Márquez completes practice clean sweep
14 September 2013 – Marc Márquez overcame an early lowside crash to go fastest during fourth free practice for the San Marino Grand Prix at Misano. The Spaniard has topped every timed session thus far and enters qualifying as the strong favourite to claim pole.
As in third practice, it did not take long for Márquez to demonstrate his pace, and he quickly rose to the head of the field. A minor crash at Turn 13 did little to hold up his charge, and the points leader was again the only man to break the 1m33s bracket.
Jorge Lorenzo became the first rider to break the stranglehold held by the Repsol Honda team throughout the weekend, finishing 0.213s in arrears of Márquez. Álvaro Bautista took third, the Gresini rider impressively edging out Valentino Rossi.
Dani Pedrosa dropped back to fifth position after a disappointing session, placing just ahead of Andrea Dovizioso and an improved Cal Crutchlow. Stefan Bradl finished eighth fastest, with Michele Pirro and Andrea Iannone rounding out the top ten.
Qualifying at Misano gets underway at 2.10pm local time (GMT +2)
