Bauer to ride in Valencia season finale
18 September 2013 – Austrian rider Martin Bauer will make his MotoGP return with the Remus Racing team at the season finale in Valencia, with future wildcard appearances throughout the 2014 campaign also in the pipeline.
The first Austrian-entered team to compete in the premier class, Remus Racing made its debut in the series with Bauer at this year's Czech Grand Prix, finishing 21st after a crash. Alongside their Valencia entry, the Grand Prix Commission has also granted five wildcard outings for 2014 at the Dutch, German, Czech and San Marino races, as well as one of the Spain-based events.
"I am very pleased with the development because this acceptance shows that we did the right thing on our debut," Bauer commented. "We are being taken seriously. It's also nice that, once again, we can showcase our performance in Valencia. The MotoGP finale gives us the opportunity to correct our mistakes after falling in the first round (at Brno), which was a very decisive and upsetting moment."
Team Manager Andreas Bronnen added that he hopes to keep Bauer on his books following the conclusion of the current campaign.
"We now get to prove that, with a small team, such a project and vision is possible as well as being sustainable," he began. "The contract with Martin Bauer to be the rider in Valencia is signed and we are already negotiating with him for the 2014 season. He is our first choice and continues to remain so."
