Pedrosa claims victory at Sepang
13 October 2013 – Dani Pedrosa returned to winning ways during Sunday's Malaysian Grand Prix at the Sepang circuit. The Repsol Honda rider rose from fifth to third at the start, before usurping Jorge Lorenzo and team-mate Marc Márquez, who later switched positions.
As the race began it was Lorenzo who made the best of getaways, settling into the lead ahead of fellow fast-starter Pedrosa. The pair then battled hard, with the Honda possessing good straight line speed and the Yamaha proving superior under braking.
But Pedrosa made a move stick along the back straight, dropping Lorenzo into the clutches of Márquez. Another fierce battle was sparked between the latter two riders, with the rookie coming out on top after swapping places on numerous occasions.
Pedrosa had only a small lead over Márquez at this point, but he was able to pull away and claim a third victory of the campaign. Márquez stayed ahead of Lorenzo to extend his championship lead up to 43 points, with Valentino Rossi coming home fourth.
Having been a part of the lead group early on, Álvaro Bautista dropped away and only just held off Cal Crutchlow for fifth. Bradley Smith and Andrea Dovizioso followed, while top CRT runner Aleix Espargaró and Yonny Hernández completed the top ten.
The 16th round of the MotoGP season takes place at Phillip Island next weekend
