Pedrosa keen to step up a gear in Oz
16 October 2013 – Repsol Honda rider Dani Pedrosa has said he is looking forward to stepping it up a gear in the MotoGP event in Australia this weekend.
Pedrosa took his third win of the season in Malaysia last Sunday and following that success he is eager to go well again at Phillip Island, especially as he hasn’t enjoyed much success ‘Down Under’ – notching up just a solitary win in 2005 (in 250cc) and finishing third in 2009 (in MotoGP).
“I'm very happy with my performance in Malaysia and the whole team did a great job. I've had two days of rest after the race and now we head to Phillip Island and will look to finish these three remaining races as strong as possible,” vowed Pedrosa, who still has a mathematical, albeit not very realistic, chance of beating team-mate, Marc Márquez and winning the title given he is 54 points back with a maximum 75 points left up for grabs.
“The track itself is a lot of fun - the layout makes for an interesting race - and I'm also excited to test the new asphalt," Pedrosa added.
“I've had mixed results there in the past but I'm looking forward to stepping up a gear. I enjoy the track!”
