Rossi, Pedrosa set identical lap times
28 February 2014 – Yamaha rider Valentino Rossi and Repsol Honda's Dani Pedrosa set identical lap times as this week's pre-season test at the Sepang International Circuit came to an end.
Rossi was the first to post a time of 1:59.999 during Friday's session, hence his position at the top of the charts, before Pedrosa matched the Italian within the final ten minutes.
Andrea Dovizioso, who continued his assessment of Ducati's Open class bike, impressed en route to third position, ending the day just 0.068 seconds adrift of Rossi and Pedrosa.
Aleix Espargaró again performed well on Forward Racing's FTR-Yamaha to place narrowly ahead of LCR Honda's Stefan Bradl, who completed a top five covered by less than two tenths.
Álvaro Bautista wound up half a second adrift of the pace-setters in sixth, with Jorge Lorenzo taking seventh at the end of a week that has been plagued by tyre struggles.
Ducati's Cal Crutchlow and the Tech 3 duo of Bradley Smith and Pol Espargaró completed the top ten.
There will be two more tests before the Qatar Grand Prix; the first is for the works Yamaha, Honda and Ducati outfits at Phillip Island from March 3-5, before the rest of the teams reconvene at Losail from March 7-9.
