Yamaha reveals Movistar as title sponsor
5 March 2014 – Yamaha has revealed that Spanish telecommunications giant Movistar will become its title sponsor from the 2014 season.
The five-year agreement between Yamaha and Movistar means that the squad will race under the 'Movistar Yamaha MotoGP' banner.
Yamaha's 2014 livery will be unveiled on Wednesday March 19 in Losail, Qatar, just before the opening race of the season.
Yamaha has not had a title sponsor since Fiat departed at the end of the 2010 season.
"This is a big day for the sport," said Yamaha Managing Director Lin Jarvis.
"We are delighted to be able to welcome the Movistar brand back into the world of MotoGP in such spectacular fashion.
"The five year partnership provides an incredibly stable platform for both parties to fully exploit the relationship and make plans not just in the short-term but also strategically over a longer period.
"Their long-term commitment is also a strong sign of confidence in the sport and provides reassurance to the other sponsors and partners involved with our team."
Former MotoGP champions Jorge Lorenzo and Valentino Rossi will continue to ride for the team in 2014.
