Márquez still not 100 per cent fit
8 April 2014 – Reigning World Champion Marc Márquez has revealed he is still not 100 per cent fit as MotoGP heads to Austin, Texas for the Red Bull GP of Americas this weekend.
Márquez won the opening round in Qatar last month, despite missing two of the three pre-season tests after injuring his right leg. The Repsol Honda rider had to compensate for his weaker leg there with his right arm and so the two and a half week break has been useful for the young Spaniard.
"Since Qatar I've been focusing on getting my leg stronger and my body fitter in preparation for the Austin race this weekend," he explained.
"This track is one of my favourite tracks, I had a good race here last year where I have good memories of taking my first win in the MotoGP class. We'll have to wait and see the situation with the new rules for this year, but anyway we will be focused on our work," he continued.
"Thankfully the majority of hard turns are left handers at this track which is easier on my leg as I'm still not 100 per cent fit," he confirmed.
