Lorenzo tops first session in Argentina
25 April 2014 – Jorge Lorenzo returned to the top of the timesheets after setting the fastest lap time during the first practice session as MotoGP returned to Argentina for the first time since 1999.
Lorenzo, who has scored just six points so far in 2014, set a time of 1:42.804 to put Yamaha on top during the first session at the new Autódromo Termas de Río Hondo circuit in Argentina.
Lorenzo finished almost half a second clear of Aleix Espargaró, with Álvaro Bautista in third place.
Andrea Iannone was fourth for Pramac, ahead of the Tech 3 duo of Bradley Smith and Pol Espargaró.
Stefan Bradl ended the 45 minute session in seventh, while Andrea Dovizioso, Nicky Hayden and Valentino Rossi rounded out the top 10.
Championship leader Marc Márquez set the pace early on but ended up in 14th after track conditions improved.
