Márquez thrashes rivals in second practice
25 April 2014 – Marc Márquez continued his emphatic start to the 2014 season as he ended the second practice session for this weekend's MotoGP round in Argentina over a second clear of his nearest rival.
Márquez, who has won both races to be held so far in 2014, set a time of 1:39.313 at the new Autódromo Termas de Río Hondo to go 1.083s clear of Honda team-mate Dani Pedrosa.
Aleix Espargaró was third for Forward Racing, ahead of LCR's Stefan Bradl and Ducati's Andrea Dovizioso.
Dovizioso's running was disrupted after he pulled off the circuit with plumes of smoke pouring from his Ducati Desmosedici GP14 early on in the session.
Bradley Smith led a train of Yamaha riders in sixth place, albeit almost two seconds off the pace. Seventh went to his Tech 3 team-mate Pol Espargaró, ahead of factory Yamaha riders Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo.
Andrea Iannone rounded out the top 10 although the Italian shunted his Ducati at the end of the back straight midway through the session.
Third practice for the Grand Prix Red Bull de la República Argentina takes place at 09:55 local time (GMT - 3) on Saturday
