Rear tyre wear will be an issue warns Lorenzo
3 May 2014 – Yamaha rider Jorge Lorenzo says that rear tyre wear is likely to be an issue during Sunday's Spanish Grand Prix at Jerez.
Lorenzo qualified in second place for the race having led most of Q2, until a late lap from World Champion Marc Márquez bumped Lorenzo down a position.
The Spaniard admits that he couldn't match Márquez's efforts after being unable to improve on his second run during qualifying.
"We tried our best to make the best lap time, but unfortunately with the second tyre I don't know why I it didn't feel the same, it felt a little more slippery which is why I didn't improve my lap," he said.
"The goal was to stay in the first row; that was important. Obviously pole position would be better but the most important thing is to start well tomorrow, I think we have a good pace so we can definitely fight at the front.
"It will be important to stay close at the front for the first couple of laps, the rear tyre is going to drop a lot but I feel physically good as I did last year which will be very important for the race."
