Pedrosa: I almost crashed twice
4 May 2014 – Dani Pedrosa labelled his Spanish Grand Prix 'hard' after admitting that he almost crashed twice during the race at Jerez on Sunday.
Pedrosa slipped to fourth at the start and sat behind the two Yamaha riders for much of the race, before eventually getting through on Jorge Lorenzo into the Dry Sac hairpin. Pedrosa gained on Valentino Rossi but ultimately settled for third place at a circuit where he has never finished off of the podium.
"It was a very hard race from the beginning, I couldn't control the bike very well as I had the front end closing," he said.
"I couldn't push and almost crashed twice. I went for a rhythm I knew I could handle. I sat behind the Yamahas for the whole race. Towards the end the bike felt better so I overtook Lorenzo.
"Unfortunately two laps from the end I was closing on Rossi but had a rear end slide and lost contact. It was a tough race and difficult not to crash."
Pedrosa's third place finish means he lies second in the world championship, 28 points behind Honda team-mate Marc Márquez after four races.
