Michelin to supply MotoGP tyres from 2016
23 May 2014 – MotoGP has confirmed that Michelin will become its official tyre supplier from the 2016 season.
At the beginning of May, MotoGP commercial rights holder Dorna, along with the FIM, opened a tender for new tyre manufacturers, with the French brand ultimately being selected from the four parties that came forward.
The next step of the tyre supply deal will see a commercial agreement drawn out between Dorna and Michelin.
Michelin previously supplied tyres until the 2008 season, when it ended a 36-year stay in the championship.
Japanese manufacturer Bridgestone has been acting as MotoGP's sole tyre supplier in Michelin's absence.
