Pedrosa looking for qualifying improvement
28 May 2014 – Repsol Honda rider Dani Pedrosa has said he will be concentrating on qualifying better this weekend at Mugello for the Gran Premio d'Italia.
Pedrosa lined-up only ninth on the grid last time out at Le Mans and while he came through to finish fifth, he is aware he needs to be much higher up if he is to challenge team-mate Marc Márquez and stand any chance of ending his fellow countryman's five race winning rout.
"In the past few races my overall pace has been good but I'm hoping to improve in qualifying," he confirmed.
Pedrosa has taken eight podium finishes in Mugello - including two victories, one in 2010 in MotoGP and one in 2005 in 250cc, and a win now would be well timed to help cut the 42 point gap to Márquez in the Championship.
"Mugello is a very fast track with many long corners so finding the optimum set up and grip is essential," added Pedrosa, who is currently second in the standings.
"The atmosphere is very special in Mugello and also the weather is usually perfect so I look forward to going there and racing in front of a full crowd!" he summed-up.
