Pedrosa extends Honda contract through 2016
9 July 2014 – Dani Pedrosa has extended his contract with the Repsol Honda team until the end of the 2016 season.
Pedrosa, who currently sits third in the championship standings and level on points with second-placed Valentino Rossi, has represented the Japanese manufacturer since stepping up to the top echelon back in 2001.
"I'm very happy to be able to announce my renewal with Repsol Honda, and grateful to Honda for the trust they have shown in me for a further two years," said Pedrosa, a title winner in the former 125cc and 250cc classes.
"It's the best way to continue in my racing career, together with the company I was with in my very first race. I am very excited to give 100 per cent and continue to work together with everyone at Honda Racing Corporation."
Shuhei Nakamoto, Executive Vice President of HRC, added of the extension: "We are very pleased to renew our contract with Dani. He is enjoying a very strong season. We are very happy with his performance."
Pedrosa has on three occasions finished as runner-up in the premier class of the World Championship.
