Repsol, Honda extend partnership through 2017
16 July 2014 – Repsol and Honda have extended their MotoGP collaboration for at least another three seasons.
The Spanish oil and gas company joined forces with the Japanese manufacturer back in 1995, following which 10 riders' titles, 133 victories, 354 podiums, 137 pole positions and 152 fastest laps have been achieved.
In addition to acting as a title sponsor, Repsol plays a key role in the development of fuel and lubricants.
"We are very happy to extend our partnership with Repsol, which is not only a sponsorship agreement but a key technical relationship," said Shuhei Nakamoto, HRC Executive Vice President. "With the new 20 litre fuel rules in 2014, we have worked closely with Repsol and we are proud to share our successes both now and in the future!"
Repsol Honda's riders currently occupy first and second in the championship standings, with reigning World Champion Marc Márquez, who has won the opening nine races of the season, leading Dani Pedrosa.
