Dovizioso extends Ducati contract through 2016
19 July 2014 – MotoGP rider Andrea Dovizioso has extended his contract with Ducati and will remain with the Italian team until at least the end of the 2016 season.
Dovizioso, who joined Ducati at the start of 2013, is currently fourth in the championship having notched up two podium finishes and 99 points across the first half of the season.
"We've reached an agreement and this is because it's an interesting project which is beginning to bear fruit with the arrival of [Ducati General Manager, Luigi] Dall'Igna," said Dovizioso.
"We've had two podiums already this season and we are fourth in the World Championship. The current situation is really exciting, especially with the plans for 2015 in mind."
Ducati Director Claudio Domenicali praised the attitude and ability of the 28-year-old Italian as he confirmed the deal.
"Andrea has been with us for two years now and has shown his belief in this project," said Domenicali.
"After a difficult 2013 he has given us two podiums this year. He is our best rider. It's a great honour for me to announce that he has decided to continue with us for two more years."
