Nakasuga to race third Yamaha at Motegi
1 August 2014 – Yamaha will run a third bike for test rider Katsuyuki Nakasuga at the Japanese Grand Prix in October.
Nakasuga, a two-time Japanese Superbike champion, has made four MotoGP outings for Yamaha, replacing the injured Jorge Lorenzo and Ben Spies in 2011 and 2012 respectively and competing at Motegi last season.
In the final round of the 2012 campaign, Nakasuga battled wet conditions to claim a second-place finish.
"I'm glad to be able to compete again this year in my home country's Grand Prix of Japan in the world's pinnacle class of road racing, MotoGP," he said. "There's no greater competitive arena for a motorcycle racer like myself.
"As I'll be riding the YZR-M1 that I'm involved in developing, my participation will involve development evaluation. But I also want to put in a performance that will live up to the expectations of the fans that have rooted for me."
