Rossi: Indianapolis not my favourite track
7 August 2014 – Having comfortably led the factory Yamaha team's charge during the first half of the 2014 season, seven-time MotoGP champion Valentino Rossi says he is now facing a "difficult" sequence of races.
The first of those is this weekend's Indianapolis Grand Prix; although Rossi claimed victory during the circuit's inaugural round in 2008, shortened by a dramatic storm, the Italian has failed to return to the podium since.
For 2014, the infield section has been resurfaced, with Turns 3, 4, 7, 15 and 16 being reconfigured.
"The upcoming races will not be easy because we will now arrive at tracks that are difficult for me," he said.
"Indianapolis is not my favourite, but they changed the layout and the asphalt a little bit, so we have to see.
"We hope to be competitive there and to be competitive for all the second part of the season."
Rossi sits third in the standings, seven points behind Dani Pedrosa and a further 77 adrift of Marc Márquez.
The second works Yamaha of Jorge Lorenzo is holding fifth position, 44 points back on Rossi.
