Bradl sets pace in third Indianapolis practice
9 August 2014 – Stefan Bradl moved to the front of the field during Saturday morning's third practice session at Indianapolis.
The LCR Honda rider, on his way to Forward Racing at the end of the season, posted a 1:32.522 in the closing stages to shave more than three tenths of a second off Marc Márquez's Friday benchmark.
Factory Yamaha duo Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo rose to second and third respectively, while Ducati's Andrea Dovizioso and Tech 3's Pol Espargaró also made late gains to slot ahead of Márquez, who had led for much of the session.
After an early stoppage, Pramac rider Andrea Iannone slipped back to seventh, while the remaining Tech 3 machine of Bradley Smith, Dani Pedrosa's works Honda and Forward's Aleix Espargaró completed the top 10.
The biggest incident of the session saw Gresini's Álvaro Bautista highside at Turn 13. He was able to walk away from the scene and appeared to escape injury, but could not seal automatic progression from Q1.
Saturday's first qualifying phase at Indianapolis gets underway at 14:10 local time (GMT -4)
