Márquez quickest despite fall at Silverstone
30 August 2014 – Marc Márquez set the fastest time during the third practice session for the British Grand Prix at Silverstone, before suffering an accident while on a quicker lap.
Márquez had just posted a time of 2:01.906 and had set two fastest sector times when he lost the front end of his Honda under braking for the left hander at The Loop. Márquez limped away and was able to return to the circuit for the final few moments of the session.
Andrea Dovizioso was second for Ducati, just 0.034s behind Márquez. Dani Pedrosa, who ended Márquez's run of victories last time out at Brno, was third fastest.
Valentino Rossi was fourth, ahead of Yamaha team-mate Jorge Lorenzo, with Pol Espargaró in sixth.
Stefan Bradl ended in seventh despite suffering from a crash during the closing moments of the session, while Bradley Smith, Andrea Iannone and Aleix Espargaró rounded out the top 10.
British riders Scott Redding and Cal Crutchlow will have to participate in Q1 after ending third practice in 13th and 15th positions respectively.
Saturday's qualifying session at Silverstone begins at 14:10 local time (GMT +1)
