Márquez had 'score to settle' after 2013
1 September 2014 – Repsol Honda rider Marc Márquez says he had a "score to settle" with Jorge Lorenzo at this year's British Grand Prix, having been passed by the Yamaha man at the final corner of the last lap 12 months ago.
Márquez came out on top in another huge scrap with Lorenzo during Sunday's race at Silverstone, making up for the disappointment of last year's race and bouncing back from his 2014 victory record ending in Brno.
"I'm very happy with this win!" said Márquez. "I expected the race to be slightly different, given what happened in practice on Saturday, but with higher temperatures it seems that both Jorge and [team-mate] Valentino [Rossi] took a step forward. Above all, Jorge, because he had a great pace and we were fighting right to the end.
"It was important to win here, after missing out at Brno. I also had a score to settle from last year, when Jorge beat me on the final corner of the race, so I am happy to be back on the top step of the podium!"
Márquez holds an 89-point lead over team-mate Dani Pedrosa heading to the next round at Misano.
