Forward Racing to miss Indianapolis round
27 July 2015 – Forward Racing has announced that it has taken the "painful decision" to pull out of the upcoming MotoGP round at Indianapolis, following the arrest of team owner Giovanni Cuzari.
Swiss police are investigating Cuzari, who was arrested on his return from the German Grand Prix at the Sachsenring, over alleged bribery and money laundering.
With sponsors cancelling contracts, Forward ultimately made the call – in conjunction with the IRTA (the International Racing Teams Association) – to skip Indianapolis.
Forward has set its sights on returning at Brno with new funding in place.
"It was a very difficult week for the Forward Racing team," said Managing Director Marco Curioni.
"Only in the last hours we have glimpsed the real possibility of overcoming this situation.
"I hope to have Giovanni – who until proven to the contrary it is correct to assume innocent – soon with us and available to find a solution.
"Several "partners" and "friends" have understandably distanced themselves from the team.
"I want to thank those who are helping us: Dorna and IRTA gave us full support from the beginning, all members of the team that gave their unconditional support and the sponsors and new companies."
Stefan Bradl and Loris Baz are Forward's two riders for the 2015 season.
