Márquez moves ahead in third practice
12 November 2016 – World Champion Marc Márquez moved to the front during the third practice session for the final round of the MotoGP season at Valencia's Ricardo Tormo Circuit.
Márquez's time of 1:30.258 was 0.103s quicker than Suzuki rival Maverick Viñales during the 45-minute practice session on Saturday morning.
Andrea Dovizioso was third, ahead of Dani Pedrosa and Jorge Lorenzo, who did not improve on the time which left him fastest overall on Friday.
Pol Espargaró beat brother Aleix Espargaró to sixth position, followed by Andrea Iannone, Valentino Rossi and Bradley Smith, who edged Cal Crutchlow by 0.021s to secure a Q2 berth.
Crutchlow will therefore have to fight for one of two Q2 spaces during the first segment of qualifying, along with the remainder of the pack.
Jack Miller was the only rider to fall as he tumbled at Turn 4 in the closing stages, while KTM's Mika Kallio stayed at the foot of the times, but improved to sit within 0.3s of Loris Baz.
Saturday's qualifying session in Valencia begins at 14:10 local time
