Rabat's title-winning Moto2 bike stolen
16 August 2017 – Tito Rabat's title-winning Moto2 bike was stolen from Marc VDS' base in Belgium on Wednesday, the team has revealed, as it seeks information over the theft.
Rabat, now competing in MotoGP for Marc VDS, stormed to the 2014 Moto2 title with seven victories, finishing over 50 points clear of his nearest rival.
But in the early hours of Wednesday morning, thieves broke into the Marc VDS workshop in Gosselies and stole the Kalex Moto2 machine on which he won the championship.
The bike is in the team's 2014 livery and features the #53 plate that Rabat ran.
The theft happened at around 02:00 local time and the bike, which was on display in the reception area, was the only item of value taken.
A post on Marc VDS' Twitter account added that the theft was carried out by four people, with CCTV footage already given to the police.
Marc VDS has urged people to get in touch if they are offered the bike for sale, or have any information regarding the theft.
