Sonangol, organisers of the Superleague Formula, are again pleased to announce that significant cash prizes will be handed out to top achievers in the 2011 season, with a grand total of 5,100,000 euros (4.3 million pounds) having been awarded this year.

Next season, drivers will once again battle for 280,000 euros (235,000 pounds) at each of the 12 events across the campaign, with 100,000 euros (84,000 pounds) available for the winner of the five-lap ‘dash-for-cash’ Super Final in which the top six drivers all earn prize money.

A further 1,750,000 euros (1.5 million pounds) will be shared out to the top three in the final championship standings, with the Champion taking home 1 million euros, the runner-up 500,000 euros and the third placed driver 250,000 euros.

“These days it’s becoming increasingly difficult for talented drivers to earn money racing in single-seaters - but Superleague Formula now gives them that opportunity,” comments Rob Webb, the Competitions Director of the championship.

“Our cars are all equal so each driver wins money based solely on their own performances and the hard work they put in with their teams. We attracted some of the best professional racing drivers in the world this year and, with the prize fund maintained for next season, we’re expecting our best ever grid in 2011.”
