Ultimate Motorsport is confident of its chances heading into this weekend's opening round of the season in Barcelona. The team, running drivers Greg Mansell and Miguel Molina for the first time, has shown good pace in testing and is confident that it has an opportunity to claim the title in 2009.
Molina, quick in testing and beginning the season in his homeland of Spain, is very much optimistic heading into the first race of the new campaign. "We've done a good job in pre-season testing, and we are ready to start the championship this weekend; it is very positive for me to start the season at my home track - the Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona - one that I know very well." The Spaniard has his sights set firmly on the title won by compatriot Fernando Alonso a decade ago.
21-year-old Mansell, however, carries the name of the 1992 World Champion with him, but will not allow this to increase the pressure. "Pre-season testing has gone very well," said Greg. "I'm happy that we're making progress, nibbling away at the time sheets, getting closer and closer. The relationship with the team is fantastic; it's nice to have a team completely behind you. I learnt a lot spending time in America last year, but it is good to be working with a European team once again. I've tested at Barcelona, which went very well, but I've never raced there. It's a very technical circuit and I'm really looking forward to the first race this weekend."
