Hartley: I intend to make the most of 2010

15 April 2010

Brendon Hartley hopes to begin a title attack from the off this season, with the 2010 World Series by Renault set to begin at Spain's Motorland Aragón circuit this weekend. However, the New Zealander expects a stiff challenge from Tech1 team-mate and former British Formula 3 rival Daniel Ricciardo.

Hartley begins his first full season in the World Series this year and the 20-year-old who, like his team-mate is a Red Bull Formula 1 reserve driver, is highly optimistic.

"Daniel is fast and I trust him," Hartley told New Zealand's TVNZ. "We are good friends and we know we are both fast, so the last little bit is up to us.

"I've been working with a new trainer on a slightly different programme - I've been getting more variety in my workouts and putting in more outside training. I'm feeling really positive about this year; last season I was thrown in the deep end because I didn't get any preparation time and did not do any pre-season testing. I intend to make the most of this year after such a good build-up."

Pleased with this year's race formats, Hartley also enters the new campaign with F1 simulator training underneath him.
