British Formula 3 Champion Daniel Ricciardo and the Tech1 Racing team have clinched pole position ahead of the opening round of the season at Spain's Motorland Aragón circuit. The Australian heads the front row ahead of ex Formula 2 driver Mikhail Aleshin's Carlin car.
With the 18-round 2010 season beginning in Spain this weekend, the campaign will come to a close in the same country as Barcelona hosts the season-ending event in October, immediately following Silverstone's event on the calendar.
On a dry Saturday, Ricciardo and Aleshin will be followed on the grid by Italians Daniel Zampieri and Federico Leo for today's first race, which will be followed by Qualifying 2 and Race 2 on Sunday.
Fortec's Jon Lancaster leads the way for British honours from Row 4 as compatriot Greg Mansell starts 14th for the Red Devil Comtec squad. Red Bull Formula 1 reserve driver Brendon Hartley ensures that Tech1 bookend the top ten runners.
