Daniel Ricciardo will start Sunday's World Series by Renault race from pole position. Ricciardo will be joined on the front row by championship leader Mikhail Aleshin. The pole position is an important one for Riccardo in order to keep his championship chances alive this season.

Saturday morning's qualifying session in the World Series by Renault class was split in two groups. Championship leader Mikhail Aleshin started in Group A, while Daniel Ricciardo started in Group B. Both men topped the timesheets in their group but it was Australia's Daniel Ricciardo who completed the fastest lap on Saturday morning.

Speaking about his pole position in Monaco Daniel Ricciardo said: "I really needed this pole position here. Everything had to happen in my last lap. My team manager told me to give everything. Pole is very important here and I am looking forward to Sunday's race."
