ISR eying Rossi for 2011 race seat

18 October 2010

Having tested a Formula Renault 3.5 car for the first time last week, Alexander Rossi is now keen to put together a race deal with ISR Racing for next season. Driving at the Circuit de Catalunya on Tuesday and Wednesday, the American driver wrapped up proceedings second quickest and less than two seconds of a second off the top spot.

Having experienced a mixed season in GP3, in which he finished fourth overall for ART Grand Prix, Rossi’s Barcelona best of 1:33.100 on Wednesday afternoon saw him end the test second only to more experienced World Series by Renault pilot Brendon Hartley’s P1 Motorsport car.

“It was really good to be back with ISR,” Alex said at the Barcelona track. “I felt right at home working with everyone.

“In my first WSR experience earlier this year in Monaco, we immediately had pace. Coming into this test with ISR my expectations were the same and I was not disappointed.

“It was a fantastic result, only struggling with brake temperatures on Day 2. We were able to show consistency and the pace that proves ISR can win many races in 2011. Everyone is so passionate and focused on the results, working together and improving. I look forward to the second test at Motorland Aragón next week.”

The squad is now keen to negotiate a full-deal deal for next year. “It was great to have Alexander back with our team again,” said team owner Igor Salaquarda. “Alexander is a very quick, serious and committed racer and, as we expected, he was immediately on top of the timesheets.

“Alexander and his management are currently reviewing 2011 plans and we’d love to have him with us in WSR next season.”
