Webb switches from BF3 to Formula Renault 3.5
19 February 2011 – Britain’s Oliver Webb will move from British Formula 3 to Formula Renault 3.5 with Spanish team Pons Racing for 2011, it has been announced by the Spanish squad.
Currently 19, the Manchester driver finished in the top three of last year’s BF3 title race. So far, his World Series by Renault experience includes a test with Fortec over the winter.
“I'm very excited about the opportunity to race with Pons Racing in the World Series by Renault championship,” he commented.
“The calendar and grid are very strong and it will therefore be a tough year, but after a visit to the team workshop I have no doubts that we will be fighting as a main contender.
“It was a late deal, but one which has taken a great weight off my shoulders, to be lucky enough to get such a good team with great success behind me and our 2011 championship attack.”
