World Series by Renault: Ciudad del Motor de Aragon 2011: Saturday qualifying 1 results

Robert Wickens has picked up the first pole position of the 2011 Formula Renault 3.5 championship. The Canadian, who returns to Renault’s World Series from Formula 2 for this year, will start Race 1 alongside Alexander Rossi as Daniil Move and Sergio Canamasas fill the second row slots at Spain’s MotorLand Aragón.

With a best effort of 1:42.901, Carlin’s Wickens edges out Fortec driver Rossi by just 29 thousandths of a second. Move was delighted with a top three result for P1, having endured a highly frustrating campaign last year.

Behind fourth-placed Canamasas, second Spaniard Albert Costa has qualified seventh quickest, with Lewis Williamson the leading Briton in tenth.

Round 1 begins at 2pm local time (BST +1)
