World Series by Renault: Ciudad del Motor de Aragon 2011: Sunday qualifying 2 results

Brazil’s Cesar Ramos will be starting this weekend’s second Formula Renault 3.5 race from pole position. Driving for Fortec, the Italian Formula 3 Champion registered a best lap of 1:43.168 at Spain’s MotorLand Aragón and will share the front row with the Tech 1 Racing car of Estonia’s Kevin Korjus.

After being quickest on Friday, Ramos was thrilled to be back on P1 after starting only 16th in yesterday’s opening round of the season, having suffered a miserable qualifying season. Today, his leading effort was just over a tenth of a second quicker than Korjus.

Behind, leading Spaniard Albert Costa will set off from third position, with Nelson Panciatici alongside on Row 2. A number of favourites are locked together on the third and fourth rows in the form of Daniil Move, Brendon Hartley, Robert Wickens and Race 1 victor Alexander Rossi.

It was a trying session for the trio of British drivers as Lewis Williamson, Daniel McKenzie and Oliver Webb managed no more than respective 16th, 18th and 22nd slots.

Race 2 begins at 2:15pm local time (BST +1)
