GP2 regulars Michael Herck of Romania and Fairuz Fauzy of Malaysia will switch briefly to Formula Renault 3.5 as the World Series heads to Germany’s Nürburgring this weekend. Herck will drive for Pons Racing whereas Fauzy will be in the cockpit of his own Mofaz car.
In Fauzy’s case, the drive comes as New Zealand’s Chris van der Drift – who escaped a huge Superleague Formula accident at Brands Hatch last year – is unable to provide the relevant funds.
“I definitely won't be there this weekend,” van der Drift explains. “I did the first four rounds with the support of Mofaz, but unfortunately I couldn't bring any additional budget.”
The opening Qualifying session in Germany begins at 8:45am local time on Saturday (BST 1)
