Pietro Fantin will make his Formula Renault 3.5 debut with Arden Caterham in 2013, joining António Félix da Costa at the British squad. The Brazilian, who finished sixth in the 2012 British Formula 3 championship, says he is aiming to complete a multi-year programme in the competitive feeder series, with 2013 marked as a learning year.
"Formula Renault 3.5 has always been in my plans, for a two-year project, because of the car and high level of competition," said Fantin, who celebrated his 21st birthday last month. "As a rookie, I hope to learn a lot, but also with the real target of being in the top ten, finishing all races and constantly scoring points.
"Arden Caterham had a great performance last year, and they always have a competitive car, so I believe this year won’t be different."
Fantin got his first taste of Formula Renault 3.5 machinery during the post-season test sessions at the end of 2012, driving for the Lotus and P1 Motorsport teams.
