Huff begins testing new 2011 Chevrolet Cruze

17 September 2010

Rob Huff completed the first shakedown with the new 2011 Chevrolet Cruze this week, running for two days at the MIRA proving ground and the Brit admitted it was a ‘very emotional moment’ both for him and the team.

The test was a key step in the preparation for the next FIA World Touring Car Championship season that will see the debut of the new 1.6 turbocharged engine entirely designed, built and developed by Chevrolet and RML.

The team reported that the shakedown was ‘completely satisfactory’ and further testing and development wil now take place in the forthcoming days at MIRA and other tracks.

"It is always a very emotional moment for a driver and a team to take a new car to the track for its first miles, and particularly this time, as the Cruze 2011 and its new engine are an ambitious and challenging project,” Huff said.

“Now starts the development phase and much work lies ahead, but what I can tell from today's first test is that it is a very interesting evolution and that WTCC racing is going to be extremely exciting in 2011."
