Citroën eyes Kubica for WTCC outing
30 June 2013 – Citroën hopes to tempt former Grand Prix winner Robert Kubica into making a World Touring Car Championship (WTCC) appearance when it enters the series in 2014.
Kubica, who has been recovering from a rally accident suffered in February 2011, is currently competing for the French manufacturer in WRC2, and Team Principal Yves Matton is eager to put together a deal should the Pole wish to expand his program.
"Attracting experienced people to the team would be vital," explained Matton during a press conference at the latest round of the WTCC season in Portugal. "If he was interested, we would certainly like to bring Kubica to at least one round next year."
Citroën announced its 2014 WTCC entry on Tuesday, with nine-time World Rally Champion (WRC) Sébastien Loeb already confirmed as a permanent driver.
