Neal moves ahead in Practice 2
4 June 2011 – Honda Racing’s Matt Neal set the pace during final practice at Oulton Park this afternoon, edging ahead of Alex MacDowall who recovered well from his shunt in first practice. Neal had been confined to his garage for much of the session due to a steering issue, but he took to the circuit in the closing stages and his personal best effort placed him just ahead of Silverline Chevrolet pair MacDowall and Jason Plato.
Conditions were pleasant once again as the green light came on at the end of the pit lane, ensuring a busy track throughout the 40 minutes of track action. The session was stopped late on when Jeff Smith’s Eurotech Racing machine slammed into the barriers at Druids and left debris all over the circuit, while Lea Wood contributed to the situation after stopping out on-track at Knickerbrook.
Paul O’Neill finished just behind the top three on the timing screens as the session reached its conclusion, almost two tenths ahead of Sutton Coldfield-born Andrew Jordan. Gordon Shedden and Rob Collard claimed sixth and seventh respectively, while Mat Jackson, Tom Chilton and Tom Boardman rounded out the top ten.
Qualifying begins at 3.15pm local time (BST)
