Onslow-Cole rejoins Team Aon
6 June 2011 – Having announced on Sunday that he would be departing AmD Milltek after being presented with an offer from a rival team, it has been announced that Tom Onslow-Cole has rejoined Team Aon. Last season, the Englishman raced to eleven podium finishes and fourth overall with the Arena Motorsport-run squad.
The move confirms that, from Croft onwards, Aon will run three cars as Onslow-Cole joins Tom Chilton and Andy Neate.
“I’d like to thank Tom (Chilton) for securing my return to Team Aon this season,” Onslow-Cole explains. “We have been in regular touch and I know that he has been particularly persuasive in me rejoining the team. I’m looking forward to racing with Tom again this year and helping him and Andy develop the new car to its true potential this season.
“I have some great memories from the 2010 season with Team Aon and I look forward to building on those in the new Global Ford Focus this year. I’m very excited about the opportunities that lie ahead.”
At AmD Milltek, Team Principal Shaun Hollamby admits that the move has come as a large surprise, having been informed at Oulton Park on Sunday afternoon.
“Tom’s revelation that he had been offered a drive elsewhere certainly wasn’t something I expected to hear in the run up to the final race and, in the circumstances, it was the right decision not to risk the car,” Hollamby explains.
“We wish him all the best for the future and have enjoyed working with him over the past four rounds. All concerned with the AmD Milltek Racing.com team are fully focused on continuing the progress we have made so far in 2011 through the rest of the season.”
