Alguersuari to miss 2015/16 FE season
6 August 2015 – Jaime Alguersuari has announced that he will not be competing in the new Formula E season.
Alguersuari contested the maiden campaign of the all-electric series with the Virgin Racing squad, but missed the finale in London after it emerged that he had fainted following the previous Moscow ePrix.
Although the ex-Formula 1 driver attributed the incident to "dehydration and extreme exhaustion", he says medical staff are yet to reach their own conclusion, thus ruling him out for 2015/16.
"As you well know, last June I suffered a fainting episode after the Moscow ePrix," said Alguersuari in a statement posted on his social media channels.
"As a consequence of this faint, my licence to race was temporarily suspended because the FIA commission wanted to delve into medical research.
"During the month of July I underwent several tests for which there has not been a medical resolution and I am still waiting for the final diagnosis.
"For this reason I need to announce that, unfortunately, I will not be able to take part in the FIA Formula E Championship for the 2015/16 season with my team DS Virgin Racing.
"I want to wish good luck to the team in the new championship and thank everyone for their support."
Alguersuari added that he intends to announce his future plans in September.
