Abt lowers FE benchmark at Donington
17 August 2015 – Daniel Abt smashed the Formula E lap record at Donington Park to comfortably set the pace on the first day of the second pre-season test.
During the late afternoon qualifying simulations, the Abt driver produced a best time of 1:30.250, putting him seven tenths clear of the field.
Nicolas Prost kept Renault e.Dams towards the top of the timesheets in second, ahead of DS Virgin's Sam Bird and Dragon's Loïc Duval.
Jacques Villeneuve was the final driver to get within a second of Abt's time in fifth, with Venturi team-mate Stéphane Sarrazin backing him up.
Mahindra pair Nick Heidfeld and Bruno Senna were closely matched in seventh and eighth, while Aguri tester Nicolas Lapierre completed the most laps en route to ninth.
After topping both test days last week, Sébastien Buemi this time had to settle for 10th, his Renault e.Dams stopping out on track and curtailing his programme.
Andretti and the recently confirmed Simona de Silvestro again failed to complete a full lap amid technical problems, while there was no activity at Trulli.
Formula E testing continues at Donington Park at 09:00 local time on Tuesday
