Lynn replaces Lopez at Virgin for New York
28 June 2017 – Alex Lynn has been confirmed as José María López's replacement at DS Virgin Racing for the upcoming Formula E double-header in New York.
Lynn was appointed the team's reserve driver earlier this year and will join Sam Bird in an all-British line-up for the inaugural Brooklyn event on July 15/16.
Lopez will miss the ePrix to contest the clashing Nürburgring 6 Hours.
"I'm delighted to be racing for the DS Virgin Racing team," said Lynn ahead of his series debut.
"Formula E has always impressed me with its combination of advanced technology, iconic city centre locations and some of the best drivers in the world.
"We have a lot of testing and simulator work to do before the New York event, but I'm confident I can show what I'm capable of during my rookie debut in the Big Apple."
Lynn, after winning the GP3 title, spent 2015 and 2016 competing in GP2, placing sixth overall in both seasons, while acting as a Formula 1 development driver with Williams.
He has also made several LMP2 outings with the Manor and G-Drive teams, taking pole position for the recent 24 Hours of Le Mans, before retiring from the race.
