Switzerland joins 2017/18 Formula E calendar
21 September 2017 – Switzerland will feature on the Formula E calendar in the 2017/18 season, with a street race to take place in Zurich.
Switzerland has not hosted an FIA-sanctioned single-seater race since the Le Mans disaster in 1955, when motor-racing was outlawed, with only time trial events, such as hillclimb, permitted.
However, a law change in 2015 lifted restrictions on fully-electric racing, facilitating Formula E's arrival in the country.
The Zurich ePrix has been listed for 10 June, as the final European round, prior to double-headers in New York, which has been moved one week later, and Montréal next July.
"The calendar for next season is shaping up to be one of the most exciting yet with four new venues – including Zurich." said Formula E CEO Alejandro Agag.
"I'm thrilled that Formula E is bringing racing back to Switzerland for the first time in over 60 years.
"This wouldn't have been possible without the core fundamentals of Formula E – driving the electric revolution and sustainable mobility."
Berlin's Tempelhof Airport will again host Germany's round of the championship, after a location for the country's ePrix was listed as TBA on the provisional calendar, which was released earlier this year.
Hong Kong will play host to the double-header season-opener on the first weekend of December.
