Kari stripped of podium for Ticktum clash
8 October 2017 – Arden's Niko Kari has been stripped of his podium finish at the second GP3 race of the weekend at Jerez after he was deemed culpable of causing a collision with Dan Ticktum.
Kari and Ticktum battled for third through the opening sequence of corners during the final few laps when they made contact at Turn 4.
The clash left Ticktum in the gravel and out of the race, while Kari went on to classify in third position.
However, stewards agreed that Kari was responsible for triggering Ticktum's exit and have issued a 10-second time penalty.
As a result, Kari has been demoted to 19th spot, elevating ART's Anthoine Hubert onto the podium.
Newly-crowned champion George Russell moves into fourth spot, ahead of ART team-mates Nirei Fukuzumi and Jack Aitken, with Giuliano Alesi and Tatiana Calderón completing the points scorers.
