Ilott to make move to GP3 with ART for 2018
4 December 2017 – Ferrari-backed Callum Ilott will make the switch from Formula 3 to the GP3 Series for the 2018 season, after signing a deal with ART Grand Prix.
Ilott, 19, recently completed his third season of single-seater racing, placing fourth overall in this year's FIA European Formula 3 championship, with six wins to his name.
He then became the first ever British member of the Ferrari Driver Academy (FDA), and took a took a dominant win in the Macau Grand Prix Qualification Race.
Ilott drove for ART at the official GP3 test in Abu Dhabi last week.
"Together with the FDA, we made the decision to do GP3 with ART and I'm really happy with this as the first step in our partnership," commented Ilott.
"ART is a very professional team with a proven track record in GP3 and I am hugely excited to start working with them – to be selected by ART for one of its much coveted seats is a real privilege.
"I am really looking forward to a new car, new tracks and new challenges."
ART chief Sébastien Philippe added: "I am really happy to welcome Callum in the team.
"He showed during his young career that he has a very interesting potential, [and] we have no doubt at all that he has all the assets needed to fight for the title in 2018."
