Punta del Este returns to Formula E schedule
6 December 2017 – The FIA's World Motor Sport Council has confirmed that Formula E will return to Punta del Este this season, with the proposed São Paulo round postponed.
Punta del Este hosted the championship in the first two seasons, though was dropped for the 2016/17 campaign, and was not initially included on the 2017/18 roster.
However, March's planned São Paulo event has been delayed until the 2018/19 season at the request of the local authorities, and Formula E organisers required a replacement.
As a result, the Uruguayan street circuit will take up São Paulo's March 17 date on this season's schedule.
DS Virgin Racing's Sam Bird currently leads the 2017/18 standings, having opened the campaign with victory in Hong Kong last weekend.
