Mazepin to move across to GP3 with ART GP
15 December 2017 – Force India test driver Nikita Mazepin will move across to the GP3 Series in 2018, having signed a deal with ART Grand Prix.
Mazepin, 18, has spent the past two seasons in European Formula 3, placing 10th overall in 2017, with three podiums to his name.
He drove for ART in the post-Abu Dhabi GP3 test, the outfit describing his adaptation and progress as "remarkable", as he finished inside the top three.
Mazepin has now secured a seat alongside Ferrari-backed Callum Ilott.
"I am really happy to make the step up to GP3 with ART for 2018," said Mazepin.
"I have enjoyed my last two seasons in Formula 3 where I have improved a lot as a driver and the second part of this year was very positive.
"The recent GP3 test with ART in Abu Dhabi went really well and I immediately felt comfortable and trusted in the ART Team.
"I am really looking forward to seeing what we can achieve together in 2018."
Mazepin has made several Formula 1 test outings with Force India, most recently at the post-Abu Dhabi Grand Prix tyre test.
