Jani splits with Dragon after one round
3 January 2018 – Neel Jani has split with Dragon Racing after just one round in Formula E.
Dragon was the only team not to score a point at the season opener in Hong Kong, after a planned tie up with Porsche – which Jani represented in LMP1 – fell through.
Jani finished a lapped 18th in both races, with team-mate Jérôme d'Ambrosio also trailing at the back.
"As a result of changes that were unforeseen, Dragon Racing and I have decided that it is in the best interest for the future of the team and myself that we end our alliance," Jani told Autosport.
"I would like to thank Dragon Racing for giving me the opportunity to experience Formula E, and I wish them all the best for the continuing season."
José María López, who lost his seat at DS Virgin Racing after the 2016/17 season, has been tipped to replace Jani at the next round in Marrakech.
