Lopez makes Formula E return with Dragon
7 January 2018 – José María Lopez will link up with the Formula E field for the remainder of the season after replacing Neel Jani at Dragon Racing.
Porsche sportscar ace Jani joined Dragon for 2017/18 but departed after a difficult opening pair of races in Hong Kong as he slumped to a lowly 18th in both encounters.
Lopez, meanwhile, was left without a seat when DS Virgin Racing opted to promote Alex Lynn full-time alongside Sam Bird.
Lopez has now inked a deal to compete for Dragon across the rest of the season, alongside series veteran Jérôme d'Ambrosio.
"This is an exciting opportunity for me and I'm looking forward to the challenge of Formula E in season four with Dragon," said Lopez.
"I have good experience from season three, and I'm confident that we can achieve strong results as the season progresses."
Lopez, 34, arrived in Formula E having secured three straight World Touring Car titles and placed ninth for DS Virgin in 2016/17, taking two podium finishes.
