'DTM series is an option for me' - Kubica
27 January 2013 – Robert Kubica says a move to the DTM series could be an option in 2013, with the Pole open to a full-time seat in the category. The Kraków-born driver, who has been recovering from a near-fatal rally crash for the past two years, says he felt ‘no big limitations’ in the Mercedes DTM AMG C-Coupé during a test in Valencia this week.
"This test was just to get a feeling of the car, to see how it looks and how it is to drive a DTM car. Of course, the DTM season starts a bit late so there is still time, but other options which I have I need to decide on pretty soon. So we will see."
Kubica went on to talk positively about his progress and the possibility of returning tothe cockpit of a Formula 1 car in the future, but says there is still ‘a long way to go’.
"I have some limitations, but I’ve driven plenty of cars and if I have enough room in the car, which I have in the DTM car, there are no big limitations for my arm or for myself. I feel better the more often I drive."
The 2013 DTM season starts at Hockenheim on 5 May, before the teams and drivers visit nine more venues across Germany, Great Britain, Austria and the Netherlands.
